WATCH: Dramatic Stafford car fire caught on video

A car was destroyed when flames ripped through it in Stafford.

The fire, which was captured on video, happened near County Hospital on Weston Road on Thursday afternoon.

The driver managed to escape unharmed but the majority of the car was caught up in the blaze which happened shortly after 5pm.

Dramatic video taken at the scene by David Ebberson showed flames shooting up from the car as thick black smoke rose into the sky before emergency services arrived.

A spokesman from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to Weston Road at 5.13pm on Thursday, one crew from Stafford attended.

"There was one vehicle well alight when they arrived. They use two breathing apparatus and two hose reels jets.

"The driver was present but unharmed."
