The scheme for Charnley Road in Stafford will include a new playground for toddlers and young children, a skatepark, an outdoor gym and picnic area.

The designs were put together following a consultation last year which included online feedback and drop in sessions where local people had the chance to speak to the team behind the scheme.

And Stafford Borough Council will also be talking to local skaters about the final design for the wheeled sports area on the site.

Councillor Carolyn Trowbridge, cabinet member for leisure at the council, said the work would enhance the area providing people with more opportunities to spend time in the park.

She said: “We were very pleased with the quality of the feedback we received from families and local people about the plans for Charnley Road. It was great to hear that both younger and older generations believe the revamp would increase the amount of visits and time they would spend there.

“We have a good track record of delivering some excellent parks in the borough and I expect this to be no exception. The designs look fantastic and I am sure we will be able to give residents a park they will be proud of.”
