Boy in stable condition after Stafford pub car park crash

A young boy is in a stable condition in hospital after a crash in a pub car park in Stafford.

The collision involved a car and a pedestrian, an eight-year-old boy, in the car park of the King's Horse pub off Newport Road and Kingsway on Tuesday evening.

The boy was rushed to Birmingham Children's Hospital with potentially life-changing injuries.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police confirmed this morning he was now in a stable condition.

A 32-year-old woman was being questioned on Wednesday after returning a positive breath test, but has now been released under investigation, the spokesman added.

Staffordshire Police is continuing to appeal for witnesses following the crash, which took place at around 5.50pm.

A spokesman for the force said: "The 32-year-old woman has been released under investigation.

"The boy is now in a stable condition."

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call the Staffordshire and West Midlands Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting incident reference number 605 of January 22.
