Four men arrested after knifepoint robbery at Tesco in Stafford

Four men have been arrested in connection with a knifepoint robbery at a Tesco Extra supermarket.

Tesco on Stone Road, Stafford, was robbed on Wednesday night.

The incident happened at the store on Stone Road, Stafford, on Wednesday night.

Shortly after the shop closed at 11pm three women workers were about to leave when two masked men carrying large knives forced them back inside.

One of the women was forced to open a safe and tills for the two robbers to empty cash into bags and boxes as well as a large amount of cigarettes.

While one of the victims was made to drive her colleague's Ford Mondeo to the loading bay, where the stolen haul was loaded up.

The two suspects then fled the scene in the vehicle which was later found abandoned in Fancy Walk, Stafford.

Four men, two aged 34, and two others aged 32 and 36, all from Stafford, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

They remain in police custody.
