Emergency services were called after the two-vehicle smash between a car and a lorry outside the Royal Oak pub, in Rising Brook, just before 7am.

A 57-year-old woman, 21-year-old man and 53-year-old man were taken to Royal Stoke Hospital as a precaution.

A Staffordshire Fire spokesman said crews from Stafford and Penkridge attended.

"One person was released from the car before our arrival, while a second person was released using hydraulic cutting equipment and taken into care of ambulance service," they said.

"Our crews left the scene at 8am."

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Murray MacGregor said: "We were called at 6.51am and send three ambulances and a paramedic officer.

"A 57-year-old female had abdominal pain, a 21-year-old male had lower back and left foot pain, while a 53-year-old man was trapped but uninjured.

"All three were taken to Royal Stoke Hospital as a precaution."
