Firefighters tackle 400-ton farm waste fire in Brewood

Firefighters have tackled a fire which had consumed around 400 tons of farm waste in South Staffordshire.

Crews from Brewood and Cannock were called to Shutt Green Lane, Brewood, shortly before 4pm on Wednesday.

Seven firefighters tackled the blaze using hose reel jets – with the hot-spots dampened down before being reinspected.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters used hose reel jets to extinguish this fire which had taken hold in 400 tons of farm waste on Shutt Green Lane in Brewood.

"Great work from crews at Brewood and Cannock in making the area safe."
