The site has opened for appointments at Hagley Park School, in Burnt Hill Lane.

The new site is situated so it is easily accessible without a car. Those being tested will be required to following public health measures, including social distancing, not travelling by taxi or public transport, practicing good personal hygiene and wearing a face covering throughout, including while travelling to and from the centre.

Councillor George Adamson, leader of Cannock Chase Council, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to secure another walk-in testing centre in the district, in an accessible location for the people of Rugeley and surrounding areas.

“It is really important if you have symptoms to get tested. Our district has seen the number of cases rise dramatically and by following the rules we can reduce that figure.

"We now have two testing centres for anyone with symptoms, regular lateral flow testing for hotspot areas for people without symptoms and vaccination centres opening across the district.

"We all need to play our part to reduce infections is our area. I would urge anyone with symptoms, however mild, to book a test today.”

The testing centre is open from 8am until 8pm seven days a week. Tests can be booked by visiting nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.
