Paramedics, police and firefighters were all sent to the scene at Tesco in Rugeley on Tuesday afternoon.

Fire crews stabilised the car and helped the female driver and pedestrian, another elderly woman, to ambulances.

Neither women were believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries, firefighters said.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service posted on Facebook saying: "Firefighters from Rugeley and Cannock attended this collision at Rugeley Tesco this afternoon after an elderly woman’s vehicle was in collision with the store exit.

"A pedestrian, another elderly woman, was also injured but thankfully neither is believed to have suffered life threatening injuries.

"Crews stabilised the vehicle and helped paramedics transfer both women to nearby ambulances."

One onlooker posted online saying: "I was there, it was a shocking site. Two fire engines and the fire car, two land ambulances and two paramedic cars, three police cars and the air ambulance, it was a horrific sight and not even remotely funny.

"I hope the people involved are okay."
