Penkridge Market is offering any new or existing business or community group in the Parish of Penkridge the opportunity to take up a free stall on the market, for one day, to help promote their business or group.

The market will be offering these special pitches to anyone over the age of 16 on May 26 and May 30.

The market draws people in from around the region, including people from as far as Telford, Stoke and Walsall.

Market organisers say it is a great place to ‘test’ a new business idea or to promote an existing business or community initiative to new visitors to the area.

Matt Williams, manager at Penkridge Market, said: “We realise people visiting the market are sometimes not aware of the businesses in Penkridge itself, so we really want to help local businesses promote themselves and hopefully gain new customers.

“We know how tough it is for any business, but especially for anyone starting up.

"So we really hope the free stall offer will help attract and create some new and exciting business ideas.”

Matt is offering local businesses a 10ft pitch on the market on either the Wednesday or the Saturday.

The pitch can be used to sell products or to simply promote businesses by handing out leaflets, running a competition or raising money for charity.

If you do not have the necessary equipment the market will even provide a table, subject to availability.

The ‘Love Your Local Market’ initiative, is an annual campaign led by the National Association of British Market Authorities with full support from the wider markets industry and Government.

It has developed over the years into a full fortnight of activities, with the aim of highlighting all that is great about UK markets.

Now in its seventh year, the annual initiative grew out of the Portas review in 2012 and has seen many hundreds of businesses started or developed during the focus of activity in May each year.

Penkridge will be joining more than 1,200 markets across the country offering pitches aimed at attracting new traders, to help support the next generation of traders and entrepreneurs.
