Margaret Broadhead, a member of both the green and grounds team and the marketing and events team for Lichfield and Hatherton Canals Restoration Trust, completed the hike up the 1,345-metre Ben Nevis in four hours and 50 minutes.

“Volunteering with the trust has been so good for me,” said Margaret, who joined after her husband died.

“I wanted to repay the favour by raising money for LHCRT, especially as Covid has caused a massive dent in their fundraising efforts.

“So I decided to walk to the top of Ben Nevis with my son.

“Lots of people sponsored me so I ‘d like to say a big thank you.

“Thank you also to my son Darren without whom this would not have been possible, especially his patience in helping me to get back down, he has been amazing.”
