Joseph Davis, from Hednesford, was supposed to be taking part in a charity concert to raise money for his sister Lyra’s special needs school - until lockdown got in the way.

However, the talented 11-year-old wasn’t going to let social distancing get in the way of helping his sister, Lyra, and her school friends - so he decided to carry on entertaining via the internet.

Joseph invited fans of his Facebook page, Telecastervision, to tune into a live internet concert and more than 50 of them watched the show. In the 24 hours since the gig he’s had more than 4,000 views on Facebook and Joseph has raised over £450 for Greenhall Special Needs School in Stafford.

Sat in his bedroom, Joseph sang and played guitar for the people who were watching. But Joseph says he gets his determination to succeed from his sister, Lyra, aged five.

Lyra was recently diagnosed with a very rare genetic condition, Cornelia de Lange Syndrome which means she has delayed development both physically and mentally.

Joseph said: “Lyra’s love of life inspires me every day. She really loves her school and I wanted to show them how much I appreciate what they do for her.”

Joseph started playing at open mic sessions at The Arcade pub in Cannock in December last year. Since coronavirus closed this venue down he’s been posting song videos on YouTube under the title #joesjukebox to keep people’s spirits up.
