Man released amid investigation into death of woman in Hednesford

A man arrested following the death of a woman in Hednesford has been released pending further inquiries.

The man, aged 47, from Cannock, was arrested on Saturday night after police were called to a home, in Anglesey Street, Hednesford, and found the woman's body.

He was quizzed at Cannock Police Station over the weekend but was released under investigation yesterday.

Staffordshire Police has declined to say what the man was arrest on suspicion of or if it is treating the investigation as it murder inquiry.

The force appears to be stumped by the death of the 47-year-old woman, who was found around 6.30pm.

A post-mortem examination to help detectives determine exactly how the woman died is scheduled for Wednesday.

The force then expects to have the woman formally identified.

Detectives have also issued a plea to public for any information as they continue to try and solve the mystery.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Anyone who may have information about the death should call 101 quoting incident number 668 of 13 April.
