Smoke grenades let off at Hednesford school

Smoke grenades were let off at a school by pupils finishing school.

Staffordshire Police say two smoke grenades were set off on the premises of Kingsmead School at around 11am today.

The grenades were let off by a group of around eight to nine people. No one was injured.

Mike Lowe, a spokesman for Staffordshire Police, said: "We were called to Kingsmead Technology College at around 11am. Two smoke grenades have been set off on the school premises by a group of 8-9 people.

"There were no witnesses to the actual grenades being set off, no damage has been caused and no one was injured. Enquiries are now ongoing to find out more about the group of people responsible.

"If anyone has any information about this incident, can they call 101 quoting incident number 267 of 16th June."

The Express & Star has contacted the school for comment.
