Crews at Cannock Fire Station will be washing cars in exchange for donations for The Fire Fighters Charity on Saturday.

Station Commander Paul Harpin said the charity, like many others, has been it by the coronavirus pandemic this year.

He said: “Nationally there is a car wash day for the charity, and due to Covid-19 it’s been really difficult.

“Now up and down the country the car wash day is being held on September 5.

"The charity is for the rehabilitation of sick and injured firefighters, both physical and mental illness.

"We have quite a few rehabilitation centres and the funding helps to support them up and down the country.

“In one way or another we’ve all been affected personally or know somebody that’s needed treatment.”

Mr Harpin added: “Fingers crossed the weather will be good.”

It will take place between 10am and 4pm.
