The Pied Piper, in Pye Green Road, closed in 2014 and now Cannock Chase District Council has approved plans for it to be transformed, creating six full time and five part time jobs.

Two years ago firefighters were called to a blaze at the empty pub, and armed police were sent the month before following reports of a group of people with an air rifle.

Plans were previously submitted to convert the building into a supermarket, but later withdrawn.

Ex-footballer Stan Collymore, who is from Cannock, gave his backing to campaign to reopen the pub four years ago.
