The 102,000 sq ft development will be the latest addition to Kingswood Lake, Cannock Chase District Council confirmed.

The unit will be in the vain of the large warehouse occupied by haulage giant APC Overnight based at the site and will be ready for occupation some time later this year.

The development, branded as 'Rapida', is being constructed by Trebor Developments and backed by funding partner Kay Properties.

Councillor Gordon Alcott, deputy leader, said: "We are delighted to welcome these new investments to the District.

"The investment and speculative building demonstrates confidence in the district and the property market, which will create much needed employment opportunities, despite end users sometimes being unknown."

Kingswood Lake consists of 96 acres and was developed on a former opencast mining site.

It is also home to Veolia, HellermanTyton, DHL, Bidvest and First Choice.
