Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene on the A460 between Hednesford and Rugeley, next to Rainbow Valley in Cannock Chase.

The motorcyclist was subsequently taken by air ambulance to Royal Stoke Hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries last evening.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: "At 6.20pm, we were alerted by Ambulance crews to a car vs motorcycle RTC on the A460 near Rainbow Valley.

"A motorcyclist has been airlifted to Royal Stoke Hospital, although their next of kin has not yet been contacted.

"The road currently remains closed at the present time."

The road has been the scene of accidents in the past, with a 79-year-old man dying after a crash in July 2019 and a collision causing three hours of delays in October 2019.
