Man seriously injured after rolling car into a ditch

A man was seriously injured after rolling his car and landing in a ditch near Cannock Chase.

The junction of the A34 with Camp Road.

The incident happened about 8.30am today on Camp Road near the junction with the A34 Cannock Road in Brocton.

Two fire crews from Cannock and Stafford attended and had to cut the man free from the vehicle.

Staffordshire Police confirmed he was taken to hospital but was in a stable condition.

A collision investigation unit also attended the scene and the road was closed off with motorists told to avoid the area.

A force spokesman said: "It was a single vehicle RTC (Road traffic collision).

"No-one else was involved.

"One man was removed and taken to hospital where his injuries were being treated.

"He was in a serious condition but had been stabilised.

"It was a serious incident and a collision investigation unit was sent to the scene. Enquiries are ongoing."

A spokesman for Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service added: "We were called at 8.30am to a one-car RTC on Camp Road.

"Our crews from Stafford and Cannock attended. One male casualty was released by the fire service using cut equipment. The vehicle had overturned and was in a ditch."
