Among the England Disabled Golf team is Tom Beard, from Burntwood.

The team flew out to the Algave for the European Team Championship on Wednesday. They will compete on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

It comes a week after the four-some took part in a competition at Oxley Park Golf Club.

They went up against others teams of four, each with one professional player.

The disabled golf team's professional is Chris Foster - the only golf professional amputee in the world.

The event was organised by the club's professional Craig Thomas, and sponsored by Wednesfield Radio Cars.

Mr Thomas, who is also national coach for the disabled team and flew out to Portugal with the members, said: "It is pleasing to see the team progress so well, we are expecting good things when they go out to Portugal."
