The lines between Rugby and Stafford were closed and services cancelled or delayed after reports of an incident near Rugeley Trent Valley.

Emergency services were called to the incident, which caused disruption to the Euston to Crewe service and West Midlands Railway Chase Line.

A spokesman for London Northwestern Railway said: All lines are currently blocked at Rugeley Trent Valley whilst the emergency services deal with an incident on the line.

"This affects our Euston to Crewe route and our West Midlands Railway Chase Line services too."

British Transport Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service were contacted for comment.

Services were expected to be disrupted until 8pm.
