New images show the progress being made on the site of the former Sister Dora Care Home in Brocton Road, Milford.

The home was demolished due to being branded inadequate and being unfit for purpose.

And a new care home will now take its place after Stafford Borough Council backed the plans from MACC Care and Indigo Care in June last year.

The new development will see the number of rooms in the home on the site double from 38 to 71.

It comes after elderly residents at the Sister Dora Care Home, on the edge of Cannock Chase, were moved up to 25 miles away.

Inspectors from health watchdog CQC found 33 residents were at risk of "ill-health, malnutrition and dehydration".

It was shut down in December 2016 and put up for sale a month later, with a planning application lodged to demolish and replace it with a purpose-built care home and car park.

The new care home will feature a gym, library, hairdressing site and a cinema for residents.

Developers said the home would "enhance the lives" of residents who may eventually move in, as well as create 60 jobs.
