M6 delays last seven hours as HGV hits central reservation

Drivers were faced with delays for around seven hours on the M6 this morning after a HGV crashed into the central reservation.

The crash happened on the northbound carriage between Junction 11 for Cannock and Junction 11a for the M6 Toll at 1.50am today.

Traffic was stopped northbound and diverted after the crash and lanes 2 and 3 were closed southbound while Highways England dealt with the incident.

All lanes were open by 9am.

A spokeswoman for Highways England said: "It happened at 1.50am. A HGV struck the central reservation barrier. Repairs were completed and all lanes were open by 9am."
