Former Stafford councillor dies

A former councillor who served in Stafford for almost 40 years has died.

Henry Butter was a member on the former Stone Rural District Council from 1967 to 1973 and on Stafford Borough Council from 1973 to 2011.

Mr Butter represented the Chebsey and Eccleshall ward and then Eccleshall ward and was chairman and vice-chairman of many committees during that time.

He was made an Honorary Alderman in 2015 for 'eminent service to the council'.

Mr Butter died on December 12, aged 87, and his funeral will take place on Saturday at midday in St Peter's Church, Eccleshall Road, Broughton, Eccleshall.
