Police watchdog investigate two Staffordshire officers

A police watchdog is investigating two Staffordshire officers after a man took an overdose while they were searching his home.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct investigation began on October 11 after the incident in which a man was treated for an overdose of medication after being arrested and having his flat searched.

A spokesman for the Independent Office for Police Conduct said: “Following a voluntary referral from Staffordshire Police we are independently investigating whether officers acted appropriately and in line with policy while searching a flat and arresting a man who was subsequently treated for an overdose of medication.

"Our investigation began on October 11 this year and is still in its early stages.

"We can confirm that two officers are under investigation at this time.”
