Travis Jones death: man appears in court

A man has appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a crash on New Year's Day.

Gregory Springthorpe, 22, from Platt Street, Cannock, is charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving in relation to Molly Jarvis and causing death by dangerous driving in relation to Travis Jones after crashing into trees on the B5012 Cannock Road, Pillaton, between Penkridge and Cannock on the evening of January 1 2017.

Travis, who was a front seat passenger in the grey Honda Civic, was pronounced dead at the scene when ambulance crews arrived.

Mr Springthorpe pleaded not guilty to both charges and will appear at Stafford Crown Court on November 13.
