It took about eight hours for Tami's husband Jamie along with lifelong friends Karl Dixon, Lee Forrester, Glenn Witts and his father Brian Witts to finish the perilous journey.

Glen, 36, from Hednesford, was usher at Tami's wedding 10 years ago and at the top of Snowdon he took the first sip from the hip flask they gave to him as a gift.

He said: "It was horrendous. to be honest it was the biggest challenge I have ever done.

"We all hit the wall at some stages but the thought of Tami and what she is going through kept us going. She is a fantastic woman. All we had to do was look at Jamie who was by our side and it gave us some motivation. It was four amateurs just going for it."

The group prepared for the gruelling challenge with a five hour walk a couple of weeks beforehand and raised over £8,000 her treatment which they may go abroad for but that is not the final figure as they have also collected cash donations.

He said: "There is no doubt in my mind that people would have donated to Tami if we walked to the shop and back because she is so loved."

Tami, 49, from High Green in Cannock, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in May and since then her family and friends have taken on all sorts of tasks to raise money for her. There has been a sponsored walk, a sponsored hair shave with her sister Michelle Nicholls, and even a festival that was organised by her cousin's daughter, Lauren Dando, to raise money for her which was inspired by Tami's love for music called TamFest and was a big success.

Lauren Dando said: "The atmosphere was great, everyone enjoyed themselves and had a laugh and enjoyed the different types of music. I was overwhelmed with how many people came. It was fantastic She had a lovely time, she probably found it overwhelming as well. it was really happy fun with friends and family."

Over 180 people attended the event and even Tami herself got to enjoy the live performances and entertainment.
