Police appeal after West Bromwich's Expressway blocked by crash

West Bromwich's Expressway was blocked after a lamppost was knocked down in a crash involving two cars.

Police are hunting two men after they fled from a car after the crash on the busy road.

Two cars collided on the A41 The Expressway just before 9.30am today.

Police have said that two men were seeing fleeing the scene after the crash.

A lamppost has been knocked over in the crash and highways engineers have attended to make the scene safe.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that one man suffered minor injuries in the crash but that he did not require hospital treatment.

A West Midlands Police spokeswoman said: "Two men were seen fleeing the scene.

"Enquires are underway.

"Anyone with any information is asked to contact police via 101 anytime. Please quote log number 579 of August 20."

Traffic has been backing up to Junction 1 of the M5 during the smash with the route partially blocked northbound.
