300 mince pies donated for concert
Hundreds of mince pies have been donated for a Christmas Carol Concert on Saturday.
Asda Great Bridge has donated 300 mince pies for the mayor's upcoming Christmas Carol Concert at West Bromwich Town Hall.
Sandwell Mayor, Councillor Joy Edis received the donation from store manager Darren Powell.
The money raised from the concert, including the sale of the mince pies, will be donated to the mayor's charities.
Her charities are Wood Green Academy’s Defibrillator Appeal, and Your Trust Charity run by Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust – specifically raising money for maternity and neo-natal services.
Councillor Edis said: "I would like to say a big thank you to Asda Great Bridge for their generous donation once again.
"Their regular support for the Mayor's Christmas Carol Concert is very much appreciated. Selling the mince pies at the concert will help us to raise more funds to help the charities."
Helping the mayor take delivery of the mince pies were Sandwell Explorer Scouts, Isaac Grice and Jacqueline Holt, who will be representing Sandwell at next year's World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, USA.
The line up for this year's concert - the 129th - features pupils from Hargate Primary School, West Bromwich and Our Lady and St Hubert's Catholic Primary School, Oldbury as well as Halesowen Brass Band and vocal soloists Phil Challoner and Janice Williamson.
The concert starts at 7pm with doors opening at 6.30pm. Tickets are priced £5 for adults and £2.50 for concessions.
