Heather Grainger had worked at Moorlands Primary in West Bromwich for 19 years.

She started as a class teacher then became a special needs leader.

Before then Heather, 58, had trained as a nurse.

She had two children and three grandchildren. Heather was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the many reality programmes and soaps.

The school plans to honour Heather’s memory by creating a permanent tribute to her later this year.

Headteacher Kate Roberts said: “We were very saddened by the news that Heather had passed away and our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.

"Heather is a great loss to our team of staff and the pupils at Moorlands Primary.

"We have offered children, staff and parents counselling and support should they need it.

"We hope to make a fitting tribute to Heather within the school grounds later on in the year.”
