The Blue Diamond number 16 service to Hamstead via Hockley smashed into the lamp post in West Bromwich, just after 7pm yesterday.

The scene, which shows the buses front window screen mangled on the floor and the front of the vehicle partially crushed, crashed just outside Sandwell Central Sixth College campus which sits along New Street.

The road was closed off after one police car attended having received a call at 7pm with no arrests being made and no one reported to have been injured.

A police cordon and traffic cones were placed to shut off the road with a removal truck also on the scene.

A Sandwell council spokesperson said it was going to cost several thousands of pounds to sort out the damage caused by the accident, with repairs to the street light and granite slabs having to take place.

The charge of the cost will be returned to the bus operators or their insurance company the council has said.
