Woman cut free from vehicle and taken to hospital after four-car crash in Wednesbury

A woman was cut free from a car after a four-vehicle collision on a busy road in Wednesbury.

Emergency services were called to High Bullen shortly before 11pm last night.

A woman was trapped in one of the vehicles – and fire crews rescued her by removing the roof, before she was taken to hospital.

Two young girls, from another vehicle, were also taken to hospital for precautionary checks.

The occupants from the three other cars involved in the crash managed to get themselves out of their vehicles before the fire service arrived.

A spokesman from West Midlands Fire Service said: "We were called at 10.50pm to High Bullen in Wednesbury to reports of a four-car collision.

"A woman was extricated from her vehicle by the fire service by a full roof removal. She was taken to hospital.

"The occupants of the three other vehicles self-extricated themselves prior to the crews arrival.

"Two girls from another vehicle were taken to hospital for precautionary checks.

"The road was closed for some time while police, ambulance and fire service were there."

Fire crews from Wednesbury and Tipton fire station were in attendance.
