Isobel Lines, 18, competed in 2017 for Miss Black Country and is now preparing for her biggest competition yet.

The sports science student from Wednesbury will head to Resorts World in Birmingham for the event in June, and only five competitors will get through to the final which will be held later this year.

Isobel said: "This is the furthest I've got so far, I'm very excited."

Isobel is raising money for Papyrus, a suicide prevention charity, after a friend committed suicide last year.

She has already raised £500 by completing a blindfolded walk up the Malvern Hills.

"I'd like to get the funds up to £1,000 by June if I can," she added.

"I had a friend who committed suicide last year, so it's a charity which is close to my heart."

Isobel said there are a number of rounds in the semi finals, including a black dress round, an eco round where contestants have to create their own outfits from recyclable materials, a publicity round, and a charity round.

She added: "This year's eco theme is green, I haven't started making my outfit yet but it's going to take a while.

"I'm definitely looking forward to the competition, I would be really happy if I got through."
