Man arrested after running out across M6 lanes while drunk

A man has been arrested after he ran across six lanes of traffic on the M6 while drunk.

The incident is believed to have happened this morning between junction 8 and junction 9 for Wednesbury.

The Central Motorway Police Group tweeted that he tried to climb a gantry when police arrived.

The tweet read: "M6 J9-J8 drunk male pedestrian on the motorway. On police arrival male ran across 6 live lanes & tries to climb a gantry. Male arrested."
