Police, fire and ambulance services rushed to the scene off Coneygree Road at around 6.50pm on Tuesday night.

The cyclist was taken to hospital but is not thought to have been seriously injured.

Photos from the scene showed a heavy emergency services presence as they rescued the man from down the side of the embankment.

A spokesman from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "West Midlands Ambulance Service was called by the police to a railway embankment off Coneygree Road, Tipton, at 6.51pm last night.

"An ambulance, a paramedic officer and Hazardous Area Response Team paramedics attended to find a man who had reportedly fallen off his bicycle.

"The man was treated for injuries not believed to be serious but, due to the difficult location, it was a protracted case as the man needed mobilising and carrying across the difficult terrain back to the ambulance.

"The man was conveyed to Sandwell Hospital for further assessment and treatment."

West Midlands Police and West Midlands Fire Service have been approached for comment.
