Two cars belonging to nearby residents were left wrecked but nobody was injured in the crash which happened on a residential road in Bearwood on Sunday evening.

Footage taken at the scene showed how one mangled car ended up on its side in front of a house while two others were left facing each other with major damage.

The crash happened at around 8.30pm on Katherine Road, just up from the junction with Thimblemill Road near Smethwick Swimming Centre.

Police officers and fire crews were sent to the scene but the driver is thought to have fled before they arrived.

A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said crews were called to a collision between three cars.

He said: "No-one was trapped. Two cars had come to a rest on their side, and all three vehicles were on the pathway after.

"We attended to make the scene safe and left about 9.35pm."
