Crews tackle Smethwick recycling centre fire

Firefighters have been tackling a blaze at a recycling centre in Smethwick this evening.

Crews from Smethwick fire, Ladywood fire and Handsworth fire attended the scene in Anne Road, Smethwick just after 7pm.

The incident occurred at a scrap recycling centre in the industrial street and involved two large shipping containers filled with scrap, as well as three cars located nearby.

The fire was put out by the crew at around 7.45pm, who then remained at the scene to dampen the source and ensure there was no further danger.
