Road to remain closed in Smethwick following burst water main

A busy Smethwick road will be closed until Sunday following a burst water main.

Bearwood Road had to be closed on Tuesday(8) after a water main burst in the street – leaving some residents without water.

South Staffs Water worked to repair the main, which has now been completed, and the water supply has been returned back to normal.

Motorists are being warned to avoid Bearwood Road which will be closed until Sunday(13), while they work on the road.

Diversions have been put in place via Waterloo Road and High Street.

Nathan Harper, network operations manager at South Staffs Water, said: "We are really sorry for any inconvenience caused.

"We would like to thank residents, businesses and motorists for their patience, whilst the road is being reinstated.”
