Worker seriously injured in warehouse fall

A worker was seriously injured after falling nine feet at a warehouse.

The man was taken to hospital following the fall at Supertouch in Smethwick. He had been on an order picker when he fell, the firm said.

Medics treated the worker and he was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital after the incident happened at around 12.40pm on Tuesday at Rabone Park, Rabone Lane.

The Midland Air Ambulance landed at the scene but the injured worker was taken to hospital in a land ambulance.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to an industrial premises in Rabone Lane at 12.39pm to reports of a man who had fallen.

“The man was taken on blue lights to the major trauma centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital."

The firm, which supplies protective workwear, has since launched an investigation into what happened.
