Man hit by van in Smethwick

A man was seriously injured after being struck by a car in Smethwick.

Members of the public were caring for the injured man when ambulance staff arrived.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Woodland Drive and Oldbury Road.

It happened at around 7.20pm on Thursday.

Paramedics took over care before he was taken to hospital for further treatment

The crash happened close to the scene of a fatal collision which claimed the life of six-year-old Jannatul Bakya.

The young girl was with her father heading to prayers at a local mosque in Smethwick when she was hit by a car on July 28.
