Road sealed off after grenade found Sandwell during house clearance

A Sandwell road was cordoned off after a suspected Second World War grenade was found.

Part of Regis Road, Blackheath, was sealed off on Friday until the explosive ordinance disposal unit arrived and removed the grenade.

West Midlands Police said it was not thought to be viable.

A police spokeswoman said: "A suspected World War II grenade was found this morning in Regis Road in a house clearance.

"A cordon was put in place until the explosive ordinance disposal unit arrived and removed the grenade which was not thought to be viable."
