A bride was left shocked when her wedding day became extra special - after she went into labour at her reception.

Dannie Mountford, from Rowley Regis, was 36 weeks and two days pregnant when she tied the knot on December 18.

Having planned the wedding in just six weeks, Dannie and husband Carl were convinced that their little girl wouldn't arrive until her due date in January.

However at their evening reception, whilst still wearing her wedding dress, Dannie's waters broke while she was dancing with her new beau.

Dannie was then rushed to hospital and gave birth to baby Jasmine in the early hours of the following day.

Dannie, 19, said: "One second I was dancing with my new husband, and the next I was giving birth to my little girl.

"It was such a big surprise, but it's made our wedding day even more memorable and will always be extra special.

"As I was dancing I felt something coming trickling down my leg, and when it didn't stop I ran over to my mum who helped me to the toilet.

"Whilst I was in the toilet all of the wedding guests were coming in to check on me and someone booked me a taxi to the hospital.

"It wasn't until I was in the labour ward that my wedding dress was taken off. It was soaking because of my waters bursting on it."

Dannie and Carl, 18, decided to plan their wedding in just six weeks in hope that they would be legally wed before their daughter arrived.

However their special day was cut short when baby Jasmine made an early arrival.

Dannie, a full-time mum, added: "We left the reception at roughly 10.30pm to head to the hospital, but some family members stayed for the rest of the reception.

"The DJ was still playing as I was leaving the venue and people were still finishing their drinks. We hadn't even cut the cake yet!

"Luckily Carl wasn't drinking much at the reception and he'd stayed relatively sober.

"Despite him being really stressed at the beginning when I went into labour, he was amazing during the birth as he calmed down."

When she arrived at the hospital Dannie was then in labour for almost six hours.

Despite being surprised by Jasmine's arrival, she arrived healthy surrounded by Dannie's husband and mother.

Dannie said: "Despite weighing only 6lbs4oz, and arriving almost a month early, Jasmine is doing really well and was definitely the perfect wedding gift.

"It also meant that our friends and family were all the first to know, which was magical.

"It's been hectic since because it was such a surprise, but I wouldn't have changed it for the world.

"And even though my dress and garter got ruined by my waters and my night was cut short, the day was still perfect to me."
