Lisa Jay Hair Extensions, based in Oldbury, Sandwell, has been shortlisted in the UK Hair and Beauty Awards.

The firm, run by Lisa Marusiak, is in the running for Best Hair Extensions Salon, Best Salon Team, Semi-Permanent Make Up Artist Of The Year and Best For Brows.

Lisa, who has run the salon for 13 years, said: “We feel honoured to be nominated for four awards.

“It is good news at the moment as I don’t think any of us are getting any. We are really happy.

“Some things like this give us a reason to keep going with everything that is going on.” The salon, formerly based in Halesowen, had to send lots of supporting evidence including a video to judges.

Lisa, aged 33 from Oldbury, is in the running for the awards alongside her staff Elizabeth Meredith, 25, from Halesowen, and Sadie Bailey-Clarke, 21, from Birmingham.

In 2019, the salon was crowned the best Hair Extension Specialist Of The Year for the West Midlands, as part of the Midlands Beauty Industry Awards.

Uplifted

Lisa’s salon moved from Halesowen after the first lockdown into bigger premises in Oldbury. She said to win the awards will help to “give them the push needed” amid the testing times of the Covid pandemic.

She added: “We were all worried and took the plunge to expand and we moved.

“These awards will give us the push our industry - which has taken a hit - that we need.

“It has brought us out of a bad place. I think everyone has been feeling down and not motivated by the situation.

“It has uplifted us and given us a reason to keep going.”

The awards are due to be announced in March and will be held in a virtual ceremony.
