Paramedics were called to the scene on the southbound motorway near Great Barr just before 6.30am this morning.

Five cars were involved in the crash between Junction 7 for Great Barr and Junction 6 Spaghetti Junction, and five patients were assessed with minor injuries and discharged at the scene.

The crash blocked one lane and was cleared by around 8.25am, but delays were still reported afterwards.

Jamie Arrowsmith, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 6.28am to reports of a five-car road traffic collision on the southbound M6 between Junctions 7 and 6.

"One ambulance and a paramedic officer attended and in total assessed five patients, two women and three men, they were all assessed for minor injuries and all discharged on the scene."
