Man, 26, who stole over £400 worth of alcohol from Sandwell supermarket is jailed
A man has been jailed after stealing hundreds of pounds of items from a supermarket in Rowley Regis.
On September 20, Jake Roden stole more than £220 of alcohol from a store on Halesowen Street.
The 26-year-old, of no fixed address, then targeted the same supermarket again on 28 October and stole nearly £200 of alcohol.

However, after attempting to flee through a fire exit door, he was then stopped by security and detained outside the store. A 999 call was then made and West Midlands Police officers attended and arrested him.
Thanks to CCTV footage and witnesses statements from security staff, police were able to charge Roden, of no fixed address, with two counts of shop theft. He was then sentenced to 24 weeks in prison.
Sgt Jason Walters, from Sandwell South Retail Crime Team, said: “We work really closely with retailers to identify emerging trends, encourage reporting of crimes and share crime prevention advice.
“Witness statements, CCTV and body worn video from officers are crucial to help us prosecute offenders.”
