Donations of fluid repellent face masks and single use disposable gloves and aprons are needed to keep staff safe while they care for vulnerable people.

Tattoo shops, nail and beauty salons, manufacturers and other businesses who use PPE, but who are not currently operating, or who can spare some, are being asked to donate what they can.

The PPE is needed to protect Sandwell Council staff while they go about their jobs caring for people in their homes, helping the vulnerable and delivering supplies to the people most in need.

Some council services also need paper overalls and hand sanitiser for people who are doing deliveries and working at various sites throughout the day.

Sandwell Council leader Yvonne Davies said: "We need to maintain our adult social care team’s PPE stocks for the coming months and any donations are very welcome.

“A massive thank you to those businesses who have donated already.”

Anyone who can donate should fill in the online form at www.sandwell.gov.uk/coronaviruscanyouhelp.
