Mohammed Ismaeel, 22, and Khurram Rahi, 27, were due to face trial next month but police have now confirmed the case will not be continued.

The girl claimed she was raped at Witton station in Birmingham and then a few hours later after flagging down a car to help her on July 26 last year.

Ismaael, from Witton, and Rai, from Smethwick, have been informed by British Transport Police that they face no further action and released.

British Transport Police spokesman Matthew Woodhouse said: “Detectives investigating two separate rapes of a 15-year-old girl in Birmingham have been informed that the case has been discontinued and will not be prosecuted.

"Officers have been working with prosecutors at the Crown Prosecution Service to prepare this case for trial.

"However following extensive consultation and review of the evidence with prosecutors at the CPS it has been decided that this case will be discontinued.

"The two men who were each arrested and charged with rape following the two incidents have now been released with no further action being taken.”
