Cars of all shapes and sizes arrived at Seighford Airfield in Stafford for the now annual Really Retro and Classic Car Show.

Despite heavy downpours of rain, 300 cars arrived arrived at the airstrip, with hundreds more coming to look at the vehicles.

The event, in its third year, is open to cars from the 1940s to 1990s.

It is organised by enthusiast group Midlands Car Shows, founded by Paul Jeffries.

"The weather may have been terrible, but it did not stop people coming here to show off their great cars," he said.

"We had some real classics. My favourite was a GT Ford, which was impressive, and a replica of the old Starsky and Hutch car.

"There was something form everyone. And the condition of the cars was immaculate, the owners have a lot to be proud about."

People turned up with their vehicles from 10am on Saturday. And when the weather turned for the worse in the early afternoon, some did leave.

Mr Jeffries said: "We did move the competitions forward due to the downpour. Next year, I hope the weather is kinder to us."

Among the people who came to the event at the former World War Two airstrip, 10 car clubs were represented by members.

They included Market Drayton Mini Club and Classic Cars of Shropshire. Others clubs came as far as Liverpool.

Mr Jeffries said: "We're on the map now. More people are hearing about us and are impressed by the cars on show.

"This is now an annual event. We will be back next year."

The show also featured a trade stand.

There was also three competitions - Most Awesome Show Car, Best Car Club Display and Lowest of the Low.
