Stourbridge fire cleared after crews tackled early-morning fire at single-storey industrial unit

Four fire crews responded to a blaze in an industrial unit in Stourbridge.

West Midlands Fire Service urged people to 'avoid the area where possible' earlier this morning as four fire crews responded to reports of a fire at an industrial unit off Rufford Road at 2.39am today.

The fire has since been marked as cleared, with West Midlands Fire Service saying it affected a 'single-storey' industrial unit on the road.

On X, West Midlands Fire Service said: "We have four crews in attendance at Rufford Road, Oldswinford, Stourbridge, where they have responded to a fire in an industrial unit.

"Please avoid the area where possible."

A fire service spokesperson said earlier: "Shortly after 2.05am on Friday, we responded to Rufford Road, Oldswinford.

"Four fire engines from Stourbridge, Brierley Hill, Haden Cross and Dudley attended, the first arriving within four minutes of being mobilised.

"This was a fire affecting a single-storey industrial unit. 

"Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish the fire, which is believed to have started accidentally. 

"There were no casualties or injuries. We revisited the site at 9am to check for hotspots, but none were discovered."
