His parents Kathryn Jones, 43, and James Jones, a 40-year-old salesman, from Stourbridge, decided to set their son an amazing challenge to walk twice around the lake in Mary Stevens Park in the town to raise funds and celebrate World Downs Syndrome Day.

Before taking on his challenge Rory could not walk very far and has been undergoing physiotherapy to help his limbs.

Kathryn, a nurse at a GP surgery in Halesowen, said: “We decided to set him this challenge a month ago.

“He was only walking around the furniture and could only walk one or two steps on his own when we set the challenge but he has been having a lot of physiotherapy.

“We held his hands and his grandfather, Ray Jones, and grandmother, Shirley Jones, from Romsley, also helped him to complete the walk of more than two times around the lake.”
