People can now cancel their appointments online

The email confirmation sent to residents making a booking at the tip now includes a link for people to cancel online.

Previously, people had to do it by calling Dudley Council Plus.

Bookings can be cancelled at any time - but if the cancellation is made 48 hours in advance of the allocated time, the slot will become available for someone else to use.

The number of slots per day has also been increased to help meet demand.

Covid-19 coverage:

Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environmental, highways and street services, said: "We’re pleased to be able to introduce this change which, along with increasing the number of slots to 400 a day, should allow everyone who wants to use the tip to be able to do so.

"We wanted to make it easier for people to cancel their bookings with the click of a button. Hopefully anyone who no longer needs their slot will cancel online and free up their slot for someone else who needs one, making sure we have all slots fully utilised.

"People still need to make an appointment or they will be turned away, with safety and the need to comply with social distancing guidelines still at the forefront of our minds.

"The situation is under constant review, and any future changes will be publicised."

People are urged to check spam or junk folders for the confirmation email. Permit holders for vans, trailers and pick-up trucks can still only book a Wednesday appointment at present.
